As my daughter is now an established TV actor, I thought of focusing more on myself: Dr. Deepti Bhatnagar

Mumbai: Dr. Deepti Bhatnagar is always multitasking. Born and brought up in the beautiful city of Rishikesh, she completed her graduation in Mass Communication and started the first live show of Uttarakhand Doordarshan in 2004. After being the face of Uttarakhand Doordarshan for around four years, she also worked with Sadhna TV.
Sharing the massive shift in her career, she says, “I took a brief break from my career because of my first daughter, Aurra Bhatnagar, who is an actor. I was busy being a mother, and I kind of drifted away from what I had been doing in my career, as being a mother is a full-time job. My husband is from a wellness background, and I also pursued my degree in Naturopathy and Yoga. After completing my degree, I had an opportunity to work at an amazing naturopathy and Ayurvedic hospital named Kayakalp in Palampur, Himachal Pradesh.”
Gradually, Deepti started taking an interest in acupuncture and became an acupuncturist.
Deepti’s elder daughter, Aurra, is a known name in the industry. She is recognised for her acting skills at a very young age. As a mother, Deepti took the decision to shift from Rishikesh to Mumbai.
“After long discussions with my husband and family, I took a break from my career and shifted to Mumbai to shape my daughter’s career. Now, after six years, as my daughter Aurra is a known actress, I have started focusing on myself and my individual career.”Sharing details about her participation in a beauty pageant, she says, “Recently, I participated in a beauty pageant named Mrs India SR Queen, which was held in Sri Lanka. Initially, I was reluctant, but my husband Vivek and Aurra literally pushed me to participate, and I took the plunge and signed up as a participant in this pageant. The beauty of Sri Lanka amazed me, and the entire experience was very professional.
We had four happening days in Colombo, where we went through lots of training, numerous photoshoots, ramp walks, and interviews. After many rounds, a few finalists were selected for the grand finale, which was slated to happen in Mumbai. We flew from Colombo, and on the 17th of this month, we had the finale in which I was among the top 10 contestants.
The jury and judges of the show were led by famous Bollywood actor Govinda and many other senior jury members. The best part was that I won the title of ‘Beautiful Eyes’, which was an amazing achievement.”Deepti has done shows like Nazar, Choti Sarrdaarni, Shubharambh, and Parineeti, and is now looking for more opportunities as an actor.
