Anuapma Prakash on her admiration for Kareena Kapoor: She never walks in like she needs approval
Mumbai: Actress Anupama Prakash, who is known for Risknamaa, Prabha Ki Diary, and Inside Stories: Handcuffed, has always had a very grounded way of looking at people she admires. With Kareena Kapoor, it’s not a loud fandom; it’s more like steady respect that has built up over time. She doesn’t talk about Kareena like a “celebrity crush,” but it’s more about observation. She said, “She never walks in like she needs approval… it’s like she already knows who she is, and everyone else just catches up.”
That, for her, is the first thing that stands out. The absence of insecurity. Or at least, the way it never shows. She said, “I think what I really like is that she doesn’t soften herself for people. She’s polite, yes, but she’s not diluted.”And then there’s the way Kareena has evolved over the years. Not in a forced “reinvention” way, but in a way that feels lived in. Different phases, different priorities, but still the same core energy.
“She didn’t freeze herself in one image. A lot of people do that; they get stuck trying to protect their ‘youthful version.’ She just moved with time,” she said.
That idea of moving with time, without panic, really stays with her. She explained, “I feel like she made peace with change… and that’s actually the hardest thing in this industry.”
Even in interviews, Kareena’s directness is something Anupama notices. There’s no over-explaining, no excessive polishing of words. Just straight, sometimes blunt honesty. She said, “She talks like she’s not trying to impress anyone. That kind of ease is rare, especially in public life.”And what makes it more interesting for her is that Kareena doesn’t come across as trying to be relatable either. She just is. And that difference matters. “She doesn’t perform relatably. She just exists in her own space, and people either get it or they don’t,” she said.
For me, she’s not someone to copy. She’s someone who quietly shows you that you don’t have to shrink to fit anywhere,” Anupama ended.
