CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF RANG DE BASANTI

Mumbai: Marking two decades of the iconic film Rang De Basanti, the team reunited for a special commemorative screening in Mumbai. Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and superstar Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, Soha Ali Khan, Siddharth Suryanarayan, Kunal Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, among others came together to revisit the landmark film that left an indelible impact on Indian cinema and an entire generation of audiences. Also in attendance were Ronnie Screwvala, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ajit Andhare (Head of Star Studio18). Rang De Basanti is part of Star Studio18’s distinguished library, spanning over 250 titles across eight Indian languages.
Widely regarded as a defining voice of youth, Rang De Basanti became a cultural movement upon its release and went on to be India’s official entry to the Oscars, earning international acclaim including a BAFTA nomination and multiple National Film Awards including National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The film’s enduring legacy is further reinforced by its inclusion in IMDb’s Top 250 Movies of All Time, a rare global recognition that underscores its cultural and cinematic significance.
The reunion stood as a heartfelt celebration of the film’s 20-year journey, its timeless storytelling, unforgettable music, and its continued resonance across generations.
