Harleen Reikhi talks about her impactful character in Binddii

Mumbai: Harleen Reikhi’s character Sudha Mami on Colors TV hit show Binddii has struck a strong chord with viewers, and with the show taking a leap, the actor says the journey has only become more exciting. Known for her sharp dialogue delivery and entertaining presence, Sudha Mami is now set to appear in a refreshed avatar.Talking about audience love, Harleen says people relate deeply to her character. “Whether Sudha Mami is seen without makeup or fully dressed up, people say she’s exactly the same in real life. Her dialogue ‘Bade aaye aur kismat phoot gayi’ has become very popular,” she shares with a smile. She adds that appreciation is what keeps an actor going. “People say Sudha Mami makes them laugh and irritates them at the same time—and that’s the beauty of the character. She’s a complete entertainment package,” Harleen says, adding that the response on social media has been overwhelming.

Recalling moments from the set, the actress shares a fun incident from an emotional scene. “I was about to cry during a scene when suddenly my co-actor changed the dialogue and everyone burst out laughing. I stayed in character, but the entire set couldn’t stop laughing. These are memories you carry forever,” she says.
Speaking about the leap, Harleen explains how Sudha Mami has evolved over time. “We’ve shown her at different ages—from childhood to her thirties and now forty. After the leap, she is more dominating, more fashionable, and more outspoken. She doesn’t care about anyone, not even her husband,” she laughs.
Calling this phase one of the most interesting parts of her journey, Harleen concludes, “As an actor, I always look for roles with different shades, and Sudha Mami gives me that growth. This new phase is bold, refreshing, and exciting.”
