Mumbai: There are actors and there are performers. Bollywood features a horde of performers who play supporting roles and bring more credibility to the plotline, and yet they go unnoticed. We compile a list of significant Bollywood performers in Hindi cinema, who we hope eventually get their due.
Jaideep Ahlawat: It is sad that Jaideep Ahlawat hasn’t yet received the much-deserved due after simply stunning the audience by igniting thrill as a crime lord in Jewel Thief, a thinking professor in Jaane Jaan, the ever-famous Hathiram Chaudhary in Paatal Lok and others. We wish to see him take center stage more often.
Vidhatri Bandi: Vidhatri Bandi, the promising face, has grabbed eyeballs by playing a supporting role in Shiddat, a female officer in The Diplomat, a journalist in Jalsa and a cat sitter in the recently released Max, Min & Meowzaki. After making selective choices of on-screen releases and making the most of them, we sincerely hope she gets her due recognition.
Jitendra Kumar: Jitendra Kumar has created a world of his own with Panchayat, Kota Factory, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan among others and has placed himself as one of the most dependable actors in Hindi cinema. Sadly, we don’t see much of him in mainstream releases, a space where we would definitely like to see him more!
Adarsh Gourav: Adarsh Gourav made a lasting impact with off-beat releases including Superboys of Malegaon, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Guns & Gulaabs, The White Tiger among others, and we only wish he could get more opportunities to take a deep dive into layered titles and roles.
Shashank Arora: Shashank Arora is one of the most gifted actors who has made a prominent mark by taking up nuanced roles, a significant one being in Superboys of Malegaon, followed by Made in Heaven, Brahman Naman, Titli and a lot more. Ever since, the actor has brought substance to heavy characters.
Vedika Pinto: Vedika Pinto may have limited titles to her body of work, but she’s ensured to bring impact. Be it Nishaanchi, Operation Romeo, Gumraah, or the recently released Musafir Cafe, Pinto knows how to bring believability to the fore.
Gulshan Devaiah: Gulshan Devaiah has made an impression with nearly every role he’s picked up, be it the psyched-out rich brat in Shaitan or a ruthless, grey-shaded role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ramleela. The actor has played it selectively up till now, however, he deserves more fame and limelight.
Going by their competence, these actors should be the very reason why we should be watching movies!
