New three metro routes in Kolkata flags off by PM Narendra Modi 

A net total of 13.61 kilometres of metro connectivity added across Green, Orange, and Yellow metro routes in Kolkata.

Kolkata@UNN-Kunal Das : Kolkata witnessed a historic moment today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the city’s much-awaited new metro extensions like Green Line between Esplanade and Sealdah stations. This is set to cut down travel time between the city’s two major railway stations, Howrah and Sealdah, from 40 minutes to 11 minutes., another yellow line from Noapara to Jai Hind (Bimanbandar)this will be for the first time in 41 years, connect the airport directly with the city’s metro grid, the officials said, and the orange line from ruby to Beleghata. All routes are expected to boost connectivity to the airport, marking a major milestone in Bengal’s transport infrastructure. The event, held amidst much enthusiasm, drew large crowds and dignitaries from across the state.
The PM waved a green flag to commence operations on the new routes from the JESSORE ROAD metro station. He was accompanied by West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar.


The Jai hind metro(Bimanbandar) is the largest underground metro station in Asia, Which addressed as a terminal station, in future it will go up to Barasat asper plan. This metro station is designed with international level and walkalator is also installed.
After the ceremonial start of the event from Jessore Road metro station PM Modi visited the Dum Dum central jail ground for remaining administrative functions and BJP party meeting.
“A city like Kolkata is the pride of our country’s past and future. Now that India is on its way to becoming the world’s third-largest economy, the role of Kolkata and Dum Dum is very significant,” the Prime Minister said during the inauguration.Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjeeskipped the inauguration event, with TMC leaders citing alleged harassment of migrants from the state in BJP-ruled regions as the reason.
