Mumbai: Rajinikanth is all set to return as the iconic Muthuvel Pandian, aka Tiger, in Jailer 2, and the highly anticipated sequel has now completed its censor formalities. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is slated to arrive in cinemas worldwide on October 15. Jailer 2 has been awarded a U/A 16+ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The certification comes just days ahead of the film’s theatrical release, adding to the anticipation surrounding the sequel.
The film reportedly has a runtime of 165 minutes and 18 seconds, making it approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes long. With the release date fast approaching, the makers have also unveiled the much-awaited trailer, offering audiences a glimpse into Muthuvel Pandian’s next chapter.
Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, Jailer 2 brings back several actors from the first instalment, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa. The sequel also boasts an ensemble cast featuring SJ Suryah, Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna in key roles.
The film further ups its star power with special appearances by Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, who were also part of the 2023 blockbuster. Vijay Sethupathi is also associated with the sequel.
The first Jailer, released in 2023, emerged as one of the biggest Tamil blockbusters of the year and became a major success at the box office. With the return of Rajinikanth as Tiger and an even larger ensemble, expectations are high for the sequel.Anirudh Ravichander returns as the composer, while Vijay Karthik Kannan has handled the cinematography and R Nirmal serves as the editor. DRK Kiran is the production designer, with Chethan D’Souza overseeing the action choreography.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Jailer 2 is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers are also set to present the special Jailer 2 Super Show, which will stream on Sun NXT from October 9.
With its U/A 16+ certification, nearly 2-hour-45-minute runtime and a star-studded cast, Jailer 2 is now ready to bring Muthuvel Pandian back to the big screen.
