Skipster and DJ Johney Bring Home India’s First IDA World DJ Championship Title

Krakow, Poland: In a landmark moment for India’s music and DJ culture, Skipster and DJ Johney have won the Show Category title at the IDA World DJ Championship 2025, becoming the first Indians ever to claim a top title at one of the world’s most elite turntablism platforms. The victory also marks India’s return to the IDA World Finals after nearly a decade.
Globally regarded as a benchmark for technical mastery, originality, and performance, the IDA World DJ Championship is among the most prestigious competitions in turntablism. Skipster, a pioneer of India’s battle DJ scene, first placed the country on the global map in 2013, when he secured World No. 3 at the IDA World Finals. Twelve years later, he returned alongside DJ Johney to capture the top honour and reaffirm India’s growing presence in competitive DJ culture.
Their winning routine opened with a live flute performance, before evolving into a high-energy set that blended Punjabi rhythms, Indian musical textures, and global sounds. The performance stood out for its seamless storytelling, musical depth, and technical precision.
