You might get a project once, but after that you still have to develop yourself: Soniya Bansal

Mumbai: Soniya Bansal, who rose to fame with Bigg Boss 17, feels that not everyone is ready to invest in newcomers. She, however, mentioned that breaking into the industry is not just the biggest hurdle; sustaining the success is where the challenge really starts. She said, “You might get a project once, but after that you still have to develop yourself, right? Today, even if someone is a director or a producer, the industry is largely driven by big corporate companies that actually put in the money. And why would they invest in just anyone?”

She believes that people don’t want to invest in someone whose craft they haven’t seen. She said, “These days, people invest in actors because they see that their films are already doing well in theaters. With newcomers, it is very rare. Either the story has to be extremely strong, or the production house must have enough power to promote it heavily.”
Soniya speaks from the financial point of view too. She said, “Even investors think the same way. Who should we put our money on? They believe that if there is a big actor, the film will at least recover its cost.”
She feels, then, it comes down to the actor to see how and what kind of film they are being offered. “So you need to understand that whether it is a director or a producer, you have to decide for yourself where you stand. If a director is telling you, “I will give you a film,” you also need to think about how and in what way that film is being offered everywhere. Soniya ended.
