Vaccine King Adar Poonawala : Serum Institute’s Adar Poonawala will buy 50% stake in Dharma Productions

Mumbai: Serum Institute of India’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawalla announced on Monday that his company, Serene Productions, will acquire a 50 per cent stake in Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment, collectively known as Dharma, for Rs 1,000 crore.
According to the binding agreement, Johar will retain the remaining 50 per cent ownership, Dharma Productions said in a statement.
This announcement follows several media reports suggesting that Johar wanted to monetise his stakes in Dharma. He had also held talks with several large firms, including Saregama and Reliance Industries.The company’s profit plunged by 94.5 per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to Rs 59 lakh in FY24. Consolidated revenue also declined by 50.2 per cent Y-o-Y to Rs 520.2 crore. The company reported a decrease in its core revenue from the distribution and exhibition of films and other distribution rights by 83 per cent to Rs 111.38 crore in FY24.
Poonawalla was quoted in the statement: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to partner with one of the most iconic production houses in our nation, along with my friend Karan. We hope to build and grow Dharma and scale even greater heights in the years to come.”

 मशहूर बिजनेसमैन अदार पूनावाला ने फिल्म मेकर करण जौहर की कंपनी धर्मा प्रोडक्शन में 50 फीसदी हिस्सेदारी खरीदेंगे. अदार पूनावाला की कंपनी सेरेन प्रोडक्शन, धर्मा प्रोडक्शन में यह बड़ा स्टैक लेने जा रही है. कंपनी ने प्रेस रिलीज जारी कर इस बात की जानकारी दी. इस डील के बाद करण जौहर धर्मा प्रोडक्शन में शेष 50 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी बरकरार रखेंगे और कंपनी के एक्जीक्यूटिव चेयरमैन बने रहेंगे, जबकि अपूर्व मेहता सीईओ रहेंगे. अदार पूनावाला की कंपनी ने प्रेस रिलीज में कहा कि सेरेन प्रोडक्शंस और धर्मा प्रोडक्शन के बीच यह स्ट्रैटेजिक पार्टनरशिप है और दोनों फर्म मिलकर धर्मा प्रोडक्शन की समृद्ध विरासत को अदार पूनावाला के रणनीतिक कौशल और संसाधनों के साथ मिलकर नई ऊंचाइयों पर लेकर जाएंगे.
पार्टनरशिप पर करण और अदार ने क्या कहा
