CONFIRMED: Not Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher to be the voice of Jatayu in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana
Mumbai: Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film has been in the headlines ever since its inception, be it for its scale, the advancement of technology or its casting. While the audience has already been introduced to Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and some more characters, the name for another important part in the story of Ramayana has been confirmed, and it’s being done by legendary actor Anupam Kher.
While he won’t be appearing on screen in a physical avatar, Anupam Kher will be the voice of the bird Jatayu in Ramayana. Prior to this, the name of Amitabh Bachchan had done rounds of being Jatayu’s voice, but this confirmation has put those rumours to rest.
Jatayu is an important part of the Ramayana as it is the bird that fought with Ravana during Maa Sita’s abduction. The fight sequence between Jatayu and Ravana is expected to be one of the highlights of the film releasing this Diwali.
Apart from Kher, the makers had introduced Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Kunal Kapoor as Indra Dev and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpankha, at the special event held in Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam last weekend. The trailer of Ramayana: Part 1 is slated to release this Friday.
