Mumbai: The Bengal Files, Vivek Agnihotri’s latest political drama, is making waves across audiences and critics alike for its bold depiction of historical events during one of India’s darkest chapters. The story is centered around the communal violence of Bengal in the 1940s. While viewers are praising stalwarts like Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Pallavi Joshi, Anubha Arora’s performance as Gauri has also emerged as a standout, earning appreciation from both critics and moviegoers.
Set against the backdrop of Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots, The Bengal Files presents a gritty narrative that unearths the pain, confusion, and helplessness of a generation caught amidst political upheaval. Though Anubha plays a relatively small role in the film, her portrayal of a Gen-Z character struggling to make sense of the turbulent political landscape has struck a deep chord with viewers.
One fan commented, “It was a small character but with a good social reflection. Your character represented Gen-Z like me who is aware of what is happening around but feels powerless to change anything. It felt like my own story unfolding on screen.”

Another fan wrote, “That small scene of you and Darshan Kumar Ji together, where you two argue, was mind-blowing! The dynamic between the two viewpoints was brilliantly presented, reflecting the complex conversation of opposing ideologies, almost like a Gandhi-Jinnah debate.” Anubha’s performance shines for its sheer realism. She captures the inner turmoil of a character caught between hope and disillusionment. Film critic Komal Nahta also lauded her portrayal, noting, “Anubha Arora, who plays Gauri in the film, makes her presence amply felt.”
Social media is also abuzz with praise, with several users expressing their pride and admiration for Anubha’s work. One message read, “I went to watch *The Bengal Files today and was so happy to see you in it! You’ve done a great job. I’m really proud of you. Keep shining.”*Anubha has always been admired for her versatile acting. She has previously impressed audiences with her performances in Yudhra and Power of Paanch. With The Bengal Files, she has once again proven that even a brief role, when performed with honesty and depth, can leave a lasting impact.
