Hoonur Talent Head Mohammed Nagaman Lateef Shares His Views on Student Protests, Celebrity Activism and Education Reforms

Mumbai: Hoonur Talent Head Mohammed Nagaman Lateef recently spoke at length about the ongoing student protests, the role of celebrities during social movements and the need for reforms in India’s education system. During an interaction with the media, Lateef shared his perspective on several issues, stressing that while students deserve justice and accountability, support for important causes should be genuine and consistent rather than driven by social media trends.
Speaking about the protests, Lateef said that students have every reason to demand accountability for the hardships they have faced. However, he also maintained that the final decisions rest with the authorities.
“The people are standing up against the injustice that happened to the students, and that is one of the best things. The Centre will ultimately decide what is right. I don’t want to comment further on the political aspect of the matter,” he said.
Lateef also expressed his views on the involvement of celebrities in public movements, saying he believes many personalities choose to speak only after an issue has already gained widespread attention. According to him, real support should begin from the very first day instead of after a topic starts dominating headlines and social media discussions.
“You often see celebrities becoming active only when an issue becomes very big. That’s when their concern suddenly awakens. If you genuinely care about a cause, support it from day one, not on the last day when everyone is already talking about it. Social causes should not become opportunities for publicity, personal benefit or social media engagement,” he remarked.
