Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal gets 2 months of interim medical bail in money laundering case

बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट ने सोमवार को जेट एयरवेज के फाउंडर नरेश गोयल को मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग मामले में 2 महीने की अंतरिम जमानत दे दी। वे 8 महीने बाद मुंबई की ऑर्थर रोड जेल से बाहर आएंगे। नरेश को 1 सितंबर 2023 को गिरफ्तार किया गया था।। कोर्ट ने गोयल को एक लाख रुपए का मुचलका भरने को कहा है। वे कोर्ट की अनुमति के बिना मुंबई से बाहर नहीं जा सकेंगे। गोयल ने चिकित्सा और मानवीय कारणों का हवाला देते हुए जमानत मांगी थी। उनका इलाज रिलायंस अस्पताल में चल रहा है। वे और उनकी पत्नी अनीता गोयल दोनों कैंसर से पीड़ित हैं। हालांकि, ED ने जमानत देने का विरोध किया था और कहा था कि प्राइवेट अस्पताल में उनका रहना एक महीने के लिए बढ़ाया जा सकता है।
Mumbai : Goyal is presently hospitalised at HN Reliance private hospital for treatment of cancer and has been ordered to pay Rs 1 lakh with sureties for his release by a single-judge bench of Justice NJ Jamadar. He was denied permanent bail on medical grounds by a special court on April 10.
The Bombay High Court on Monday granted interim bail for two months on medical grounds to Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal in connection with a money laundering case connected with Canara Bank.
The bench of Justice NJ Jamadar said Goyal shall pay a surety of Rs one lakh and shall not leave Mumbai without prior permission from the special court. “The applicant (Goyal) shall be released on interim bail for a period of two months. He shall abide by all conditions imposed,” Justice Jamadar said. The court also directed Goyal to surrender his passport.
Goyal, was arrested in a money laundering case, sought interim bail on medical and humanitarian grounds as both he and his wife Anita Goyal are suffering from cancer.
In February this year, a special court had in February refused Goyal bail but permitted him to be admitted in a private hospital of his choice and seek medical treatment. The bail plea was formally rejected in March this year by the lower court after which Goyal moved a bail plea in High court seeking bail on merits and to be released on interim bail on medical grounds.
While Goyal’s counsel Harish Salve and Aabad Ponda along with Ameet Naik had urged the court to consider the case on humanitarian grounds as he himself is suffering from cancer, ED’s lawyers Hiten Venegaonkar and Aayush Kedia had vehemently opposed the bail and said the agency did not have any problem if his hospitalization was extended.
