Kolkata: Two local trains collide near Sealdah railway station due to signal error

Two local trains came face-t0-face on the same track and collided near Kolkata’s Sealdah railway station on Wednesday morning due to some signalling error. Both trains were moving at a slow speed and no casualties were reported. one local train started from platform number three of the Sealdah station towards Ranaghat in Nadia district and another empty from platform number six towards the nearby car shed collided. However, the impact of the accident was not significant since both of the trains were at slow speed, the railway officials said.That there had been no report of casualty or injury because of the mishap. The driver’s cabin of the train moving towards the car shed got damaged in the collision.Several train services were effaced due to the incident. Many local trains got stranded on the tracks just before entering the Sealdah station and people were seen walking on the tracks to reach their destination.
