Mumbai Rains Update: Runway Operations At CSMI Airport Suspended; Schools, Colleges Closed On Tuesday – 9th July 2024
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reviewed the flood situation in Mumbai and the state.
Mumbai: Mumbai saw heavy incessant rainfall triggering a waterlogging situation across multiple areas on Monday. Roads were water-logged, railway tracks were submerged and flight operations were suspended due to the low visibility on runways.
A holiday has been declared in schools and colleges in Mumbai and Thane due to intense rainfall alert warnings. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow alert’ for Mumbai on July 9. Due to heavy rains for the last 24 hours, runway operations at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport have been temporarily suspended.
Mumbaikars have been asked to avoid stepping out of home and dial 1916, the contact number of the Main Control Room of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), for help or any official information.
