New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Vladimir Putin on Monday as he arrived for his first trip to Moscow since the start of RussiaтАЩs invasion of Ukraine. The bonhomie between two leaders was on full display as they shared a warm hug and firm handshake before heading for tea at PutinтАЩs Novo-Ogaryovo residence. During his interaction with Modi, Putin heaped praises on the Indian PM, saying he has devoted his whole life for public service and he is doing good for India.The Russian president also congratulated the Indian PM on his re-election and said he is happy to him in Moscow.
тАЬYou have great energy and you are doing good for India. I congratulate on your re-election for third time. This is because of your work. You have devoted your whole life for public service,тАЭ the Russian President told Modi during a тАЬprivate engagementтАЭ.тАЬMost important is 23 million kids are born every year in India. This means Indians plan for their future. This means that Indians are secure of their future. I am very happy to see you,тАЭ he added.
The Indian PM said that India has reaffirmed trust in his governmentтАЩs policies for the nation. He also expressed gratitude to Putin for inviting him to Russia for the talks.
тАЬIndian election was very important. 65 crore people have voted. After around 60 years, third time a government has been elected. This was earlier done by Nehru and this time I have been blessed by my countryтАЩs people. It is good to come to a friendтАЩs house. You (Putin) invited me to have dinner and chat with me,тАЭ Modi said.
Modi on Monday began a two-day high-profile visit to Russia to hold summit talks with President Vladimir Putin. He was received at the Moscow airport by Russian first deputy minister Denis Manturov (who also had received Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Russia earlier) and also received a Guard of Honour at the airport.
