Raag released in Cinemas on March 26

The transition to Raag was through Saroj Khan

Raag – The Music of Life is soon to be released in Cinemas on March 26, 2021. The film actually is a re-edited version of a movie to be released in 2016 that is ‘Babuji Ek Ticket Bambai’. The erstwhile could not see a release due to several factors.

Mumbai: The trailer of the movie was released on social media yesterday. Commenting on the situation producer Piyush Mundhada said “We tried releasing this film in 2016 but then demonetisation took place. The announcement was followed by prolonged cash shortages in the months that followed, which created significant disruption throughout. People were seeking to exchange their banknotes and there was a rush to exchange cash. Hence, we postponed the release then. Subsequent to this, the film was selected for a screening at Cannes in 2017 where we could not win any accolades but appreciation.”
Continuing the conversation Piyush says; “After the screening at Cannes, I met Saroj Ji and she said that she believes we have to relook at the entire project again and perhaps re-edit it. We began with the mammoth task of re-editing the film; it also required some re-dubbing and technical changes which were duly incorporated. After everything was done, we thought of changing the name. People also suggested that we replace the ‘Bambai’ in the name with ‘Mumbai’ and it is right as there are sentiments attached to the name. Saroj Ji also suggested that the name does not resonate with the movie in a dancing community and was way too long. All of us brainstormed and came up with the new name ‘Raag’, which was short and apt. When everything was finalised, we were struck by the pandemic and then the unforeseen happened. We lost Saroj Ji, who was the backbone of the project. This film is a tribute to her and her first work to release posthumously; her blessings have always lighted our path.”
The project which is helmed by Arvind Tripathi features an ensemble star cast that has actors like Rajpal Yadav, Rakesh Bedi, Sudha Chandran, Mohan Joshi, Yashpal Sharma, Milind Gunaji, Manisha Marzara, Kiran Sharad, Raghubir Yadav, Heena Panchal, etc. The songs have been sung by acclaimed singers like Mohit Chauhan, Palak Muchhal, Mamta Sharma, Shaan and Shabab Shabri and the music is on T-Series.
