Mumbai: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar witnessed a proud cinematic moment on 1st March 2026 as noted filmmaker Kumar Raj received the Best Director Award at the grand ceremony of the 2nd Jalgaon International Film Festival.The prestigious event was hosted at the Maulana Azad Research Center, Hajni Hill, near the TV Centre, opposite Salim Ali Sarovar and Garden. The evening commenced with a grand red carpet honour, where Kumar Raj was warmly welcomed by organisers and dignitaries amid flashing cameras and strong media presence. Prominent film personalities, respected political leaders, and cultural figures graced the occasion, adding to the grandeur of the celebration.The festival was led by Festival Director Umesh Nikalaje, along with Festival Co-Directors Laxmi Thorat and Anita Salve, and Organiser Raju Kamble. The 2nd Jalgaon International Film Festival 2025 continues to recognise outstanding cinematic works from across the globe, celebrating storytelling that fosters empathy and presents unique artistic vision.

Kumar Raj’s Best Director honour was met with thunderous applause. Known for his powerful women-centric films, he has consistently placed strong female protagonists at the heart of his narratives, portraying resilience, dignity, and emotional depth.
His internationally acclaimed film Tara has achieved an extraordinary 601 international awards and recognition in 35 world book records, establishing a remarkable global benchmark. Meanwhile, his celebrated film Ameena has completed an uninterrupted 100-week theatrical run, a rare and historic accomplishment in modern cinema.
Following the award ceremony, a special Q&A session was held where Kumar Raj interacted with the audience, sharing insights into his creative process and cinematic philosophy. He later met members of the press, print media, and television channels, patiently answering all questions and expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support.
The evening concluded with standing ovations and celebrations, as Sambhajinagar proudly honoured one of its distinguished filmmakers and his growing international legacy.
