Thailand Restores 30-Day Visa-Free Entry for Indians After Drop in Tourist Arrivals

Bangkok: In a major boost for Indian travellers, Thailand has officially restored 30-day visa-free entry for Indian passport holders. The decision comes after a decline in the number of Indian tourists visiting the country, prompting Thai authorities to revise their entry policy and make travel more convenient.
Under the updated rules, Indian citizens can now enter Thailand without a visa and stay in the country for up to 30 days for tourism purposes. The revised policy is expected to encourage more Indian visitors to explore Thailand’s world-famous beaches, islands, shopping destinations, nightlife and cultural attractions.
Earlier, Thailand had temporarily allowed a 60-day visa-free stay for Indian tourists as part of a tourism promotion initiative. However, the government later reduced the duration to 30 days while continuing the visa-free facility. Officials say the move aims to balance tourism growth with immigration management.
India is one of Thailand’s fastest-growing tourism markets, with millions of Indian travellers visiting destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui every year. Tourism experts believe the return of the 30-day visa-free entry will help revive travel demand from India, especially during the upcoming holiday and festive seasons.
Travel industry stakeholders have welcomed the announcement, saying it will make Thailand an even more attractive destination for Indian families, honeymooners, solo travellers and business visitors looking for hassle-free international travel.
The new visa-free policy is expected to strengthen tourism ties between India and Thailand and provide a significant boost to the country’s hospitality, aviation and tourism sectors.
