In an exclusive interview with Devbhumi Magazine, veteran rapper Parry G details how his last-minute track “Kaan Phaad” landed on the Mirzapur soundtrack, capping off a decade of film, web, and live performance achievements.

Mumbai: When the official soundtrack for the hit series Mirzapur dropped, fans were treated to a explosive mix of high-energy tracks. Among them, “Kaan Phaad” stands out not just for its relentless energy, but for the astonishing story behind its creation. In an exclusive interview with Devbhumi Magazine, veteran artist Parry G opened up about how a chance call from composer John Stewart Eduri transformed a minor background scoring assignment into a featured album track, marking yet another milestone in an already distinguished career.
​For Parry G, the journey into the Mirzapur ecosystem was neither planned nor anticipated. In a film production cycle that typically spans two years—from initial scriptwriting and pre-production through to principal photography and post-production—Parry was completely out of the frame. It was only during the final weeks before release that a crucial phone call shifted the course of his career.
​”I wasn’t anywhere in the picture,” Parry G shared during the interview. “This track came together just in the last week. John Stewart bhai, who composed the original background score for Mirzapur, called me in specifically to rap for a background score behind a single scene. It was never intended to be an official song for the album.”
​Recognizing the gravity of working alongside Eduri—a respected pillar of background scoring in the Hindi film industry with credits including Happy New Year, Ra.One, and Good Newwz—Parry chose not to treat the gig as just another background voiceover. Driven by a desire to push the track onto the official album, he wrote his verses in just thirty minutes while en route to the recording studio.
​The effort paid off immediately in the studio. Impressed by the raw delivery and elevated energy of the recording, Eduri decided to present the track directly to Mirzapur director Gurmmeet Singh. Just two days prior to the official album release, Parry received the final confirmation: “Kaan Phaad” had officially been greenlit as a standalone track on the album.
