UNN/Andy Sengiah :┬аDr Mahathir Mohamad will pursue legal action against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim regarding allegations that the former prime minister amassed personal wealth while in power. “Tun (Mahathir) has instructed us to continue the action in court. A letter dated today (April 17) and sent by Anwar’s lawyer, Aliff Benhamin Suhaimi, states that Anwar denies all of Mahathir’s allegations.
For your information, we have been instructed by our client to deny all allegations and content in your letter.
“In this regard, our client is prepared to respond to any allegations – if any – in court and not through correspondence if your client wishes to pursue legal action,” the letter said.
Mahathir sent a demand letter to Anwar on March 27, demanding that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman retract the allegations made during a policy speech at the PKR 2023 Special National Congress, on March 18. If Anwar fails to respond to the letter, Mahathir said, he will pursue legal action.
