Nobody Gets Work Sitting Idle: Anupama Prakash Opens Up About Struggles, Networking And Survival In the industry

Mumbai: Actress and producer Anupama Prakash believes that in the entertainment industry, waiting for opportunities is never enough. She is Known for projects like Prabha Ki Diary, Farzi Kaka, Risknamaa and her recent production ventures under Kaccha Lemmon Productions. The actress candidly spoke about the realities of chasing work in the industry .
Talking about the hesitation many actors feel while asking for opportunities, Anupama shares, “It’s not always about ego,sometimes experienced actors feel they’ve already done good work and don’t want to approach people for smaller opportunities. But nobody gets work sitting idle. You have to reach out to producers, directors and casting professionals.”
She further admits that the industry comes with its fair share of disappointments and fake promises. “You’ll meet good people and bad people. Even after doing 100 meetings, maybe only two will lead to genuine work. But you still have to continue because this industry demands persistence,” she said.
The actress also stressed the importance of networking in today’s entertainment business. “Talent alone is not enough. If people don’t know you or your work, then what’s the use of talent? Networking plays a huge role,” she explained.

Speaking about actors feeling embarrassed to promote themselves online or participate in auditions, Anupama says social media has become unavoidable in modern casting procedures. “Many actors go through rejection, depression and fear after failed projects or broken agreements. But if you stop trying, you have to begin from zero again. You have to keep posting, auditioning and showing your work,” she added.
Reflecting on the temporary nature of fame, the actress says, “One year an actor becomes famous and the next year people don’t even see them anywhere. The industry moves very fast. If you keep working and improving, opportunities will keep coming.”Apart from acting, Anupama has also been making headlines for her production house Kaccha Lemmon Productions and projects like Band Baaja Aafat and Mr. Reddy.
