SUNNY DEOL AND AKSHAYE KHANNA’S FIRST NETFLIX COLLABORATION TAKES THEM INTO A HIGH-STAKES COURTROOM BATTLE AS THE TRAILER OF IKKA IS UNVEILED
Mumbai : Some battles ar
e fought in court. Others are fought within. Netflix today unveiled the trailer of IKKA, offering audiences a deeper look into a gripping courtroom drama where justice, family, and conviction collide. Produced by Alchemy Films and led by Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna, the film raises the stakes on every front, revealing a world where every choice carries a consequence and every verdict comes at a cost.
At the centre of the story is Arjun Mehra (Sunny Deol), a celebrated lawyer known for his unwavering principles and belief in justice. As he says in the trailer, “Hum court mein jeetne ke liye nahi, haq ke liye ladte hai” – a line that captures the very essence of the man he is. But when a high-profile attempted murder case forces him to defend Shauryamann Gaur (Akshaye Khanna), everything he stands for is put to the test. What begins as a legal battle soon becomes a conflict that challenges his convictions, his relationships, and the life he has built.
The trailer also offers a glimpse into the people caught in the moral dilemmas surrounding the case. Tillotama Shome stars as Madhura Banerjee, a determined public prosecutor whose pursuit of justice places her on a collision course with one of the country’s most celebrated lawyers, while Dia Mirza plays Avantika, Arjun’s wife, who finds herself trying to protect her family as the consequences of the case begin to seep into every corner of their lives. Packed with tense courtroom confrontations, emotionally charged moments, and shifting loyalties, the trailer teases a story where every character is forced to confront difficult choices and their consequences.
Speaking about the film, Sunny Deol says, “IKKA is not just a courtroom drama. It is a story about family, relationships, and the difficult choices life forces you to make. Arjun is a man who believes in doing what is right, but circumstances push him to question everything around him. His pain, his anger, his silence, and his fight for what he believes in are what drew me to this character.
This film is also very special because it marks my first direct-to-streaming release. I’m happy that through Netflix, audiences across India and the world will be able to experience IKKA.”
Dia Mirza shares, “Avantika is someone who brings warmth, strength, and stability to those around her, even when life becomes increasingly uncertain. I was drawn to her resilience and the quiet courage with which she navigates the challenges that come her way. What makes IKKA special is that beneath the courtroom drama lies a deeply human story about family, love and difficult choices. I’m delighted to be back on Netflix with a story that is both emotionally rich and deeply engaging, and I look forward to audiences experiencing it.”
Tillotama Shome says , “Madhura is someone who believes deeply in doing the right thing, regardless of the odds. I was drawn to her integrity, resilience and quiet determination. She is a strong woman who isn’t afraid to stand her ground or take on the toughest challenges, even when the pressure is immense. IKKA is a story that constantly challenges its characters, and I enjoyed exploring those complexities alongside such a talented cast. I’m delighted to be part of a story like this and thrilled that it will reach audiences around the world through Netflix.”
Though Akshaye Khanna couldn’t join the trailer launch in person, he sent a special voice message for the media and fans- “Kuch mulaqatein stage par nahi ho sakti. Agar ho gayi, to zalzalaa aa sakta hai! Isiliye IKKA aur main ab sirf Netflix ki screen par milenge, 10 July ko. Taiyaar rehna,” leaving audiences eager for the much-awaited on-screen reunion on July 10.
Directed by Siddharth P Malhotra and produced by Alchemy Films, IKKA brings together courtroom drama, family conflict, and emotional stakes in a story that asks a simple but powerful question: what would you risk to save the people you love?
IKKA premieres July 10, only on Netflix.
